You are not alone.
Grief and Loss
Everyone has their own way of grieving. People experience grief as a natural response to losses. Losses come in many forms such as death of a loved one or a pet, loss of a job, separation or divorce, loss of your home to a natural disaster, a break-up with a romantic partner or friend, loss of trust in someone, etc. While grief is a natural response to a loss, it can trigger overwhelmingly painful emotions, thoughts, or engagement in behaviors that are self-harming to the grieving person.

When grief becomes the centered focus of a person’s attention, it can be nonconstructive for an individual’s personal and professional well-being.
For example, a person can begin to experience any of the following:
1. Changes in appetite.
2. Noticing you’re gaining or losing weight.
3. Having sleep disturbances: unable to sleep or sleeping too much.
4. Feeling depressed, irritable, angry or anxious.
5. Withdrawing from others.
6. Feeling confused or unable to concentrate.
7. Blaming yourself or others.
8. Feeling hopeless or helpless.
9. Preoccupied with yearning for the loss to be restored.
10. Experiencing difficulties in your relationships.
11. Not taking care of your personal well-being.
Although, there is no right or wrong way to the grieving process, the effects mentioned above can have an undesired outcome for an individual’s work-life, relationships and personal health.
Suffering losses is never easy and having support is essential. If you are finding yourself experiencing any of the above changes in your well-being, reach out today to a Licensed Mental Health Therapist who can help.
